Today we got up early and Norwin took us up to the church to pick up our rental car that we had left parked there for a couple of days. However, first we went up to the three lakes via foot and had a beautiful run around one of them. It was very peaceful and the trail was shaded and the locals were out walking, fishing and jogging.
We then picked up our car, came back to the apartment, showered up and headed east to visit Liechtenstein. This little country was 55 km away and is one of the world's "banking biggies". The country is still led by a Prince and has a castle where he lives. It was great driving around the town and we even went up to the castle and took some great pictures.
We headed back to St. Gallen for a peaceful evening before Denise and I head out alone for our future great adventures.
Wow, what adventures. The gondola ride would freak me out. How do you know Karen and Norwin? Interesting about the language. So where are the gondola ride pics? Temps here Thurs about 98, cooling today with overcast. The Swiss have such pride in their lives and commitment to their culture. Hugs Cin
ReplyDeleteThanks Cindy for checking in with us. I should've know you'd be the one. :) It has been near 100 the last few days. We are in Munich now. There was some thundering but no real rain materialized. Ugh! we are ready to cool down. So amazingly interesting over here. Sometimes very stressful though... especially driving and find parking. Munich is big city not spread out like Switzerland. Spent time in Mozart's apt. and touring the settings of the Sound of Music story (true...I never knew) of Maria von Trapp. Love that movie. Austria is incredibly beautiful..not as clean as Switzerland though and Munich? Well, very interesting. Friendly people...not so clean, but very historical as well. We've been reading Rick Steves, "Exploring Europe through the back door" and have learned a lot! We'll have more to share with you later. P.S. Norwin is Lyle's brother and karen is our sis in law.
